Today's Scripture Reading is from 1 Samuel 17:48-50, ESV: "When the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet the Philistine. And David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone and slung it and struck the Philistine on his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the ground. So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. There was no sword in the hand of David"
It is no surprise that we will face some really tough things in life. Some things are equal to our strengths. And other things require more strength than we actually have. Whatever we go through, we must understand that in God, there is a solution for every problem, healing for every sickness, and comfort for every form of grief. We are never alone. We are never short of a caring heart or a calming hand.
Every difficult situation can be a stumbling block or a stepping stone. We can yield to fear and run and hide from the Goliaths that present themselves before us. Or we can "be strong and courageous" as the Lord told Joshua. We can boldly face our Goliaths with the power of God working in us like David faced his. God gives us stones for every Goliath.
