Today's Scripture Reading is from Galatians 6:7, (ASV): "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap."
In human biology, scientists largely agree with the statement, "like begets like". This means that parents produce offspring, or children, who are similar to them in some way. Each parent gives the child approximately half of their genes, thus the similarities between the parents and the child. The phrase "like begets like" is the principle of heredity. This principle plays out in many aspects of life. An apple seed produces an apple tree. Gorillas produces baby gorillas. Human beings produce babies.
"Like begets like" is not just a phrase associated with heredity. It is also a biblical concept found in Galatians 6:7. "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." We reap what we sow. Or put another way, what we sow, we can expect to reap. We are all under the law of sowing and reaping. There is no way to get out from under it.
