Today's Devotion is "10 Reasons Why Good Friday Is So Good" (Day 38 in our series 40 Days of Easter Truth)
Our Easter Focus Passage today is: John 19:28-30
28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!”
29 Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth.
30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
Good Friday, the Friday before Easter Sunday, holds the complete satisfaction of God, the fulfillment of Jesus Christ, and the grace poured out for the entire world in a crucible called Calvary. The bloodied, battered, heartbroken, burdened Jesus slowly trudges up the hill, bearing a cross and the sins of the entire world on His back. If God had decided to end everything with Good Friday, then we would be men and women most miserable, living a life of ultimate despair and meaningless, headed straightway to an end with no hope. Jesus' death was both the worst and the best. He died so that we may live. He bled so that we may be clean. He was made sin so we could be made righteous. Good Friday was a bad day for Jesus, but it was a good day for all for us.
