Today's Devotion is "To Be Saviour and Judge" (Day 30 in our series 40 Days of Easter Truth)
Our Easter Focus Passage today is: Ezekiel 34:11–12
11 For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after them.
12 As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness.
Now, here's today's Easter Truth:
The book of Ezekiel is filled with several disturbing prophecies of doom and gloom for the children of Israel. The children of Israel are scattered and under Babylonian captivity. Ezekiel prophecies that Jerusalem and its temple will be destroyed, leaving the people hopeless and helpless. Ezekiel insists that God will destroyed the people because of their sin and idolatry if they do not turn from their ways. He parallels God as both a Saviour and a Judge --- Someone who desperately wants to deliver them and Someone who will also destroy them if they do not repent.
